  1. Is anyone else having any problems with WinTalk 1.1 by Elf Software?  
  2. It's a *lot* less buggy than version 1.0... but it still makes my machine 
  3. act wierd... I get strange behavior... Winsock errors, crashing sessions, 
  4. etc. apparently randomly when I have it loaded.  Thtese errors aren't too 
  5. frequent... it crashes things perhaps once a day... but things don't 
  6. crash when it's not there.

  28. NetManage has released free of charge, Socket Wrencher, a new 
  29. Windows TCP/IP stress testing tool.   Pre-release copies of 
  30. Socket Wrencher were provided last week to the participants of 
  31. the "WinSock Bake-Off" held at Microsoft.  Socket Wrencher is 
  32. being released by NetManage for free distribution and will be 
  33. widely available for performance and stress testing new Windows 
  34. TCP/IP implementations.

  37. Socket Wrencher is available free from NetManage via anonymous 
  38. FTP at ftp.uu.net in the /vendor/NetManage directory.  The file 
  39. is a self extracting zip file called socketw.exe.

  41. About Socket Wrencher
  42. Socket Wrencher is a WinSock application that provides more than 
  43. two dozen different measures of protocol stack performance and 
  44. compatibility.    Socket Wrencher tests a protocol stack 
  45. independent of any particular application such as FTP, Telnet or 
  46. NFS, giving a clearer picture of how well the stack performs in a 
  47. variety of environments.  Performance is tested over TCP and UDP 
  48. in both synchronous and asynchronous operation and in both a send 
  49. only and echo mode.  All tests are run with block sizes ranging 
  50. from 1K to 16K bytes.   In addition to performance, Socket 
  51. Wrencher provides a set of tests that characterize various 
  52. operating parameters of a WinSock based protocol stack such as 
  53. the maximum number of sockets that are available.

  55. NetManage's intention is to help customers get a clearer picture 
  56. of stack performance.  Stack performance is highly dependent on 
  57. the test environment and our intention is to make the test 
  58. methodology less subjective by providing an easy to use standard 
  59. tool.
